I do believe inspiration is everywhere..don't you? As in every second of everyday there is something that can catch your eye and excite you..or your process....or your thinking in general. I do however believe you can either acknowledge it...or not...depends on your person, and what you are willing to "let in". I let a lot in..ok, a boat load to be frank. Then I sort...and sort. My eye cannot stop..and I like it. I think it's part of why taking photos helps me think....my brain just loves to see things and to then keep them. ( but it can't manage all that keeping business with out my camera) Does this make any sense....are you the same? For instance I walked past these poufs just about to leave..oh, and they are just so pretty all together...our son Fin asked if he could take one. (he is me at 12...)
Then I came into the den to give our son Sigerson lunch, he stayed home as he was sick...so..I walk in and the two fawn ducks are hanging out with him..one on the couch. She jumped off once I set down his lunch tray...but my heart ( and my eye) loves them by the toile chair...as though they just came to life right from the magical scene....
We were printing some goods for Neiman Marcus and as they come to life ..well....you get it right. I hope you like seeing the minds eye...
Gus came home from school...and fished through the pantry for snacks..he naturally ( being my son and all) came into the studio with these...rainbow vanilla meringues... and they too are so pretty...( I buy them partly for pretty and partly for fun to eat....)
Then every afternoon he rips HUGE pieces of paper from my roll..( it's all butcher paper so the rolls are big and who could resist..not us..) the bigger the paper the better....he makes huge scenes....they are all really cool..and very detailed. and yes...we have lots of sharpies.....it's one of our favorite things around here....! Tell me you have some? Some of the fat ones and then some of the fine lines...they are a spolier treat.....especially a new fresh pack..that is marker crack for us!
I am working on melamine dinnerware designs...I finally am at the point where I have narrowed my groups of designs...I create oodles of patterns....then break them into several groups, knowing most will never happen. The artwork never goes to waste.....there is always another project it can be applied to....this of course makes me very happy.
Let your eye explore all you can..see more..take in more....it's free after-all....isn't that wonderful....everything that your eye sees is free..and inspiring...if you let it in......will you, won't you..will you won't you...will you join the dance.....?
Cheers and happy wanderlusting,
