A wee peek into the studio….! I am really excited to share these with you guys! We have been working like crazy people preparing for 3 shows that all fall into the next 6 weeks or so….I had mentioned a few posts back that I was working on some new stuff…( ok…loads of new stuff). Acrylic has always been on my radar….. I think my time living in France years ago really pushed it over the top as I saw so much of it there…they have always had a LOVE for acrylic and use it constantly in so many forms .For me it’s just been a matter of how I make it ” poetic enough” for my liking….I have officially found my own bohemian way. ( that was sung in opera just for you) . We archivally print and hand form these acrylic platters, trays and bowls in our studio….they are so cool to make that I literally let out a small happy scream after each one is done…( honey and lozenges do wonders for me these days) I wear big heavy fire proof gloves in the process…feeling a bit like the cookie monster when I have them on…but to make something so lovely, so hand touched sits quite happily in my soul!
They have the look of free-form semi-transparent glass but….they are break resistant…food safe..and each one is a lovely work of art. This mix I am sharing is a very tiny bit of what I have in the studio right now….all of my work tables ( and a large portion of the floor) are covered in these acrylic artworks….it’s a garden of lusciousness…careening flights of fancy….illustrious succulent layers !! tra-la…..!!!
We are also making lamps, pendants, wall art and lots of other goodies with this wonderfully delicious new process we have created.
This black swan is one of my favs. The farm I grew up on had several ponds and my parents always had quite a menagerie ( yes, I come by it honestly) peacocks, turkeys, cows, horses….and white and black swans on the ponds….you know me…nature is my driver…..I am just a happy-go-lucky passenger….this one is very inspired by my parents as they grow orchids as well. ( I need to pop it in the mail… shortly after the trade show….be patient mom and dad….)
There are naturally many layers in each design…flora, fauna…patterns….and come-hither vivid colors…that make my mouth water…and hopefully yours. ( BTW… the bottles + jars in this shot were made by me and the boys..it’s my new up-cycle thought on all the glass that I refuse to toss …we just paint them..and then plant them with seeds..cosmos and zinnias etc., and keep them happily in the garden..another bit of happy artisan love for the birds and flowers…. and a fun art project for me and the boys).

If you are a retailers we will be in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and also New York. John and I will need to do some divide and conquer in order to make all this happen…so you can meet at least one of us hopefully!! ….we’ll also be creating a wholesale website soon….( it’s in the works….) .
